Benita Martin- Was born in Denver Colorado and attended East High School. After graduating from High school she attended Barton County Community College for 2 years on a basketball scholarship. She continued her education at CU-Boulder on a basketball Scholarship. Benita graduated in 1992 with B.A. in Communications.

Following graduation, she coached Women's Basketball for 15 seasons at various Universities. Martin received her M.A. in Sports Administration at the University of Northern Colorado While coaching. Currently, she is the CO-Director of the Denver District Attorney's Juvenile Diversion Program where they work with eligible first-time juvenile offenders as an alternative to formal court proceedings. Diversion programs focus on teaching skills and providing opportunities to practice those skills. Clients are assigned to programs based on their need and must perform community service and complete restitution. Ms. Martin is now inducted into the Denver East high school Hall of Fame with the class of 2009
