MISSION STATEMENT
he MISSION of Athletics & Beyond is to create OPPORTUNITY through EXPOSURE. Through athletics we capture the attention of student athletes. Once engaged, we stress education, development of life skills, career exploration outside of sports and the fundamentals of athletics for a lifetime.
A&B Executive Board Member Coach Fritz:
I have been following Tony Dungys career as an author and went to pick up his latest book last night and he was there doing a book signing so I got in line to get my books signed.
It was my turn and he had on an Oregon Ducks shirt so I commented and he said Yah, Eric goes there (one of his sons). I said oh well we've got a boy there, Drew Davis. Tony stopped signing and said "Drew?" and went on to say how Drew has been looking out for Eric and making sure he is doing the right things and taken care of. Coach Dungy said Drew means a lot to him that he made his son feel better about what he is doing there so far away from home. So please let Drew know his good works are acknowledged and Coach Dungy really appreciates him taking the time to look out for his boy. I told coach Dungy we would make sure Drew got the message.
On a side note once we started talking Coach asked more about the A&B program and said he will look us up. I don't know if he will or won't but he will always remember the connection with Drew and A&B if it ever comes up again in the future.
It is a beautiful thing to see your seeds grow. great work Coach Narcy - keep it up!

Athletics & Beyond was created to address the needs of Student Athletes by taking a proactive approach to reaching out to young adults who are at risk of becoming negative statistics and/or need guidance to minimize damaging choices. In 2005 when the NBA All Star game was hosted in Denver, brothers Ali and Narcy Jackson started A&B. Recognizing a large majority of young adults in the inner-city have aspirations to play in the NBA, NFL and other professional sports they realized two important components were missing in how these young adults would make their dreams a reality. Often the focus in sports is the athletics without the fundamental and technical aspects required to make it to the professional level. Very few young adults think beyond the sport. The question to athletes became, what happens if you don’t make it as a professional athlete or if you make it and play 5 years, what will you do after the sport is over?
Athletics is used to capture the attention of young adults. With them engaged we stress education, coaching basic fundamentals of athletics, and life skills and encourage all participants to have an alternative plan and explore other career options directly or indirectly in sports. Our program focuses on character and the premise of “giving back” and community development. Too many athletes find success and move beyond the inner-city and forget to give back to those most in need.
Athletics - to fine tune basic fundamental and overall knowledge of the sport of choice.
& - There is more to being just an athlete.
Beyond - to encourage participants to strive for academic success, volunteerism and plan for a career beyond playing sports.
There are youth clinics, camps, combines and life skills workshops throughout the country, throughout the year. Athletics & Beyond is an elite program because we combine both phases in the development of young impressionable adults. We develop the “Student Athlete,” by building character and most importantly creating a road map to success for participants.
